Hard Water TreatmentVarious types of hard water treatment Hard water is not an uncommon
problem for many households, 60% of British homes to be exact,
and as such, hard water treatment is not an uncommon topic among
these households. However, before you can go about finding a suitable
hard water treatment option, you need to understand what hard
water is. These unwanted minerals cause certain reactions with your hair, clothing and even your silverware and tableware. These reactions reduce the lifespan of your clothing, turn bright whites to off-whites and leave unsightly white spots all over your crockery and cutlery. Hard water build-up also drastically affects the life and effectiveness of appliances and your pipe system. Thus, hard water treatment is needed to prevent all of that. Possibilities, possibilities When it comes to finding an effective and suitable hard water treatment solution, there are three possible options. These options include the conventional hard water treatment system that uses salt, chemical water softeners and, last but not least, a magnetic or electric treatment option. How they work The conventional hard water treatment system involves using sodium ions from salt to displace the unwanted minerals in the water. This is an expensive hard water treatment method as you need to initially purchase and install the system. After this, you need to recharge the system by soaking the filter material in a strong salt solution monthly. Chemical cleaners are not used to prevent the problem, but instead to treat the aftermath. In essence this is not a hard water treatment method but a clean up job that gets rid of residue left behind by hard water. These cleaners can be costly, produce wastewater pollution and they require regular use and a whole lot of effort. The electrical hard water treatment is the most effective of all. This solution does not leave water undrinkable due to salt. In fact, there is no salt used at all. What happens with this hard water treatment is that radio or audio frequencies are used to get rid of the build up of minerals in your water. The device attaches directly to your main water supply pipe and you can forget about hard water symptoms or regular maintenance. |
