Electronic
Water Softener
When
you live where there is hard water your water pipes, small appliances
and other items can get a lime scale build up. Anything that has
water flow through it or resides in it can suffer from this build
up. Prolonging the life of these water usage items can save you
money, so purchasing an electronic water softener would be a smart
idea.
Using
an electronic water softener will give you cleaner water to use
for showers, laundry and drinking. Once a water softener is installed
the build up of lime scale will stop. Then due to the properties
of a water softener it will begin to start cleaning the lime from
the water pipes or appliance. An electronic water softener will
start this process immediately without the use of chemicals.
If you
have noticed that you have nasty water marks on your sinks, toilets
and taps you are seeing the nasty side of hard water. You may have
noticed that your washing machine is not cleaning the clothes very
well or that it takes a long time for the hot water heater to recover.
These symptoms can all be from lime building up in your lines and
water pipes. Hard water is in approximately sixty per cent of homes
in the UK.
When
you install an electronic water softener the hot
water tank will recover more quickly after about ten months. The
water pipes may need a little longer to be rid of the lime scale.
Tea kettles that you may not think of as having the problem should
clear in about two months. Of course these time frames depend on
how long you had the hard water problems and the real amount of
lime in the system. There is no need to worry about the plumbing
getting leaks once the lime scale is gone. The water softener won't
cause any.
The benefits
of having a water softener can be a stable pH, the scum line that
is on your tub, toilet and other things will start to dissolve and
the water will become clearer. The mineral stains will be removed
and you won't see any more stains or pitting. There will be no algae
growth either as it will be inhibited. Installation of the water
softener doesn't require any special tools and can be installed
on a line that is up to two inches in diameter. To install the water
softener is easy as it affixes to the main water line pipe where
it comes into your house. The pipes can be made of PVC, copper,
flex pipe or iron.
Regular
water softeners can soften the composition of the hard water by
using sodium. Depending on the size of the water softener the cost
of the sodium can be from £50 to £150 a year. The cost
of the water softener can run as high as fifteen hundred pounds.
The unit will also take up more room than an electronic water softener.
So purchasing the electronic variety may be a better option for
your needs and cost less too. |
